Attributes you typically look for in a candidate applying to your firm

Someone who demonstrates our core values and prioritizes making other people successful while understanding that this will result in their individual success; someone who is ambitious, has high standards for themselves, and will work hard to succeed.

Managing the business in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has probably been everyone’s biggest career challenge so far.

What goals do you have for the coming year?

Tell us one change you would be very happy to see happen related to recruitment in Japan

Greater partnership between clients and agencies; agencies should aim to provide highly consultative services to clients rather than focus simply on transactions, clients should look to work with agencies as partners for their employee engagement and branding in the market rather than simply resume introduction services.

Most Memorable Placement Story

My first placement; the candidate was hesitating, weighing my offer against another one.  I convinced her to take my offer and she went on to have an amazing career at that company.  I’m sure that decision changed her life for the better and she told me as much years later when catching up with her.  I’ve always been very proud of that.

Any random thoughts you`d like to share about the Japan TA/Recruitment market?

Japan will continue to be a candidate short market for the foreseeable future and, therefore, there should continue to be a market for firms that are providing high-value, consultative services to clients.

Snowboarding, golf, fine-dining.
